What is Audiometric Testing?
Audiometric Testing is a hearing assessment conducted to measure an individual’s hearing threshold levels using pure-tone air conduction testing. It is an important part of hearing conservation, allowing the assessment of hearing sensitivity and the early identification of possible hearing loss. The test may help evaluate the condition of hearing function and detect changes that could be associated with occupational noise exposure. Employers are required to conduct Audiometric Testing as part of workplace noise management and in compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health (Noise Exposure) Regulations 2019.
Why Annual Audiometric Testing Is Important?
Annual Audiometric Testing is required for employees exposed to excessive workplace noise to monitor their hearing status and detect any changes at an early stage. Conducting the test annually allows hearing deterioration or noise-induced hearing loss to be identified promptly, enabling appropriate preventive and corrective measures to be taken. This requirement supports ongoing hearing conservation and compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health (Noise Exposure) Regulations 2019.
